NEW BETHEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY
The act of forgiveness and deliverance took place on the cross. Only through God's decisive atoning work in Jesus' death could a few covenant of people come into being. Ultimately, Calvary gave birth to the church and because of Calvary, the cross and the Blood that was shed for those who believe, the glory as the Lord shined upon the founding fathers of New Bethel. A sower went forth to sow; whether it was man or foul, a seed was planted. This seed was a special seed, as it came from the best of the best of stock. After the seed was planted, it took root and began to grow. Winter, spring, summer or fall; rain or shine it stood it's ground. It held on and did grow.
Sometime later around the year 1894, another seed was planted under this shade tree. A minister by the name of Rev. Leman Brown heard the following words; "For this ground you are standing on is Holy Ground" preaching to the tree and all of its inhabitants, someone hear the Word and they came. They enjoyed and told others which came also. Oh, how wonderful it must have been to enjoy the shade under the tree. This was the beginning of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Thinking he may have heard the words, "Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" - Matthew 16-18. We can only imagine it was then, a building began to erect.
After time passed and the church was established by Rev. Leman Brown, the doors opened to the following ministers: Rev. Nathan Whitten, Rev. Henry James, Rev. Raymond Julius, Rev. emory White, Rev. Roe, Rev. Gilbert Saffor and Rev. Bush.
